We are Frank and Miriam Gerace. The present work is the result of our efforts to have our children keep speaking Spanish once we came to the United States. Litle by little, friends asked us how to help their children learn Spanish. Next we were asked how to help our adult friends correct their foreign accents. We began to put together lists of tips and resources. It grew and grew...
Miriam, a native of the Bolivian Amazon, is the mother of our five children. She is a New York State licensed Massage Therapist.
I am Frank Gerace Laruffa. I have a doctorate in Communications from the University of Texas at Austin. I have worked in the ministries of education of Peru and Bolivia and as international consultant in Guatemala and Ecuador in educational and communications projects of the agencies FAO and UNESCO of the United Nations.
Besides working in various universites of CUNY (The City University of the City of New York), and in the Universites of Texas and New Mexico, I have worked in the Universidad de Lima and in the Universidad Católica in Perú, and in the Universidad de San Simón in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Currently I am Adjunct Professor in the Communications Skills Department of a large unit of CUNY. I maintain a large web site dedicated to English for Spanish Speakers and teach courses on Accent Reduction to groups and individuals in New York City.
